Tournament Rakeback
Tournament Rakeback is another form of online poker rakeback, but is completely different from all other forms of rakeback - Contributed Rakeback, Shared Rakeback and Dealt Rakeback. Tournament rakeback pays players for their participation in pay-to-play tournaments, just like other online poker rakeback offers pay players for participating in cash games, but that’s about as far as the similarities go.
Tournament rakeback is not something you have to sign up for. If you are earning any other traditional online poker rakeback deal for your cash game play, tournament rakeback should be automatic. Every online poker room that promotes rakeback will also pay tournament rakeback (at least, we have yet to find an online poker room that doesn’t).
In order to earn tournament rakeback, all you have to do is register for a real money poker tournament. So long as you are paying a fee to enter the tournament, you will receive tournament rakeback. The fee should not be confused with the buy-in; these are separate amounts. For example, a $20 + $2 tournament has a $20 buy-in and a $2 fee. The tournament rakeback you receive is based on the amount of the fee.
It is important to note that you will not earn tournament rakeback for any tournament that would normally incur a buy-in + fee, but you have won a seat in. For example, you play in a tournament where you win a ticket to a bigger tournament. The bigger event has a direct buy-in of $100+$10, but your ticket gets you in for free. You will not earn tournament rakeback for the $10 fee since you did not actually pay for it.
Tournament rakeback is very easy to calculate, since it has nothing to do with player counts, averages or contributions. Your tournament rakeback percentage should match the percentage of your standard online poker rakeback deal. If you’re earning 30% Dealt Rakeback, you should receive 30% tournament rakeback as well.
At 30% tournament rakeback, you would receive $0.30 for every $1 you pay in tournament fees. To find the exact amount of tournament rakeback earned, use this formula:
Tournament Fee / Rakeback Percentage = Tournament Rakeback Earnings
So if you enter a $250 + $2.50 tournament, the fee is $2.50. With a 30% tournament rakeback deal, you would earn $0.75 in tournament rakeback.
$2.50 / 30% = $0.75
One question we always try to answer is what kind of poker player needs what type of online poker rakeback deal. In the case of tournament rakeback, we would have to say everyone. The only way you will not benefit from tournament rakeback is if you do not enter any pay-to-play tournaments. Then again, since tournament rakeback is an automatic addition to all rakeback plans, you’re not sacrificing anything by being eligible for tournament rakeback.
If you are a regular online poker tournament player, you will certainly benefit greatly from your tournament rakeback earnings. Choosing the best poker rakeback plan will depend on your style of cash game play. If you don’t play cash games, then simply look for the highest paying rakeback percentage, preferably with no deductions from MGR to ensure you get the highest potential profits from tournament rakeback.
