In terms of “Rakeback Strategies”, there are various ways to increase your rakeback earnings without becoming too loose a player. One such rakeback strategy is one we like to call “Multi-Tabling for Rakeback.”
The idea behind multi-tabling for rakeback is simple enough. If you are averaging $5 an hour in earned rakeback at a single online poker table, you could multiply that number by 2, 3 or even more by playing simultaneous poker tables.
What if I’m Not a Multi-Tabler?
Even if you’ve never competed in multiple tables, it doesn’t mean you don’t have it in you. The best way to find out is to give it a try. Go with low level stakes and larger tables, as this will increase the time between actions and allow you to get used to the online poker rooms multi-tabling functions.
Some poker rooms are better suited for multi-tabling than others, so keep this in mind when deciding to multi-table for rakeback – especially if you’re new to it. Poker clients that allow you to cascade the windows, resize the table, detach the chat window, etc. will be easier to multi-table at.
Start out with two tables and see how it goes. Make sure your win percentage does not drop. That would defeat the purpose of this rakeback strategy. You want to maintain or exceed your average profit margins from the poker room, while increasing your rakeback profits two-fold.
If you find 2 tables to be easy enough, try upping the number again to three, or speeding up the pace with short-handed tables. You’d be surprised just how many multi-tables some online poker players can sustain at one time, resulting in some impressive rakeback profits!
Should I Enter Multiple Tournaments?
Cash games are recommended over tournaments. A tournament is going to pay a fixed amount of rakeback, based on the fee. Tournaments tend to last a long time, up to several hours or more. If you’re already a tournament player, go right ahead, but if you want the highest rakeback profits, multi-tabling for rakeback at cash games is the way to go.
Advantages of Multi-Tabling for Rakeback
The obvious advantage of multi-tabling for rakeback is that you are increasing your rakeback earnings by double, triple or even more. Multi-tabling for rakeback is just like any other online poker strategy. The object is to increase profits and minimize losses.
Multi-tabling is one of the most simple rakeback strategies, as it doesn’t require any change in your current poker game. You are playing the exact same as you did before, at the same stakes and level as before, just a bit more fast paced. And with the convenient multi-tabling features integrated by most online poker rooms, it shouldn’t much of a change anyway. So long as you can resize the tables and/or tile your windows, you shouldn’t have any problems keeping up.
Disadvantages of Multi-Tabling for Rakeback
The only issue some players have reported with multi-tabling for rakeback is that it can be more difficult to read your opponents. At a full table, it’s hard enough to remember who did what and when; that’s what note taking is for. But taking notes on 2, 3, 4 full tables at once? Not the easiest task to pull off. It’s all a matter of what you can handle and what type of poker player you are to begin with.
